COULD CROCODILES LIVE IN THE ARCTIC?
This was the arctic millions of years ago
Yes, crocodiles could live in the arctic, but it isn´t
because they can survive in cold temperatures, is because in the past, 55
millions of years ago, the arctic wasn´t cold, so they could live there.
Nowadays they can´t live in the arctic because they
have cold blood, so they have critical body-temperature limits within which
they can survive.
The Intergovernmental group of experts about the
Global warming calculates that the average temperature of the air in the Earth
will raise 6.4ºC at the end of the 21st century, so in a future, is probably
that crocodiles could live in the arctic.
